What do you get when you cross a TSX and TL? The aptly named all new 2015 Acura TLX of course! Similar in ways to both of the aforementioned vehicles but this time around Acura really nailed it in delivering a top luxury vehicle with class leading performance and handling.
Engine Specifications of the New 2015 Acura TLX
That’s just the tip of the iceberg as far as features go. But don’t let these luxurious amenities fool you. There are two engine options available for the 2015 TLX; First up is a punchy 2.4L naturally aspirated 4 banger delivering a hefty 206 horse and 182lb-ft of torque paired with Acura’s new 8- speed dual clutch transmission front wheel drive only. And if you’re a fan of grey poupon, Acura offers the heartier 3.5L V6 which brings a massive 290 horse and 267lb-ft of torque to the table. That’s 10 horse power and 13lb-ft of torque more than the previous year TL’s V6. Some credit is due to the V6’s revamped 9-speed automatic transmission, accompanied by push button center console controls. When compared to the older TL the new 2015 TLX is sure to steal the bacon. Weighing in 230 pounds less than the TL along with the superior performance specifications the TLX will undoubtedly provide a white-knuckle ride for those who seek it.
Fuel Economy for the New 2015 Acura TLX
Now you may be thinking that Acura compromised some fuel economy in order to deliver the superior performance. Nope. The new 2015 Acura TLX is expected to achieve a frugal 24/35 city/highway fuel consumption for the 4cylinder model (2C/4H better than the TSX) and a 21/34 (1C/5H better than the FWD TL and 3/5 better than the AWD TL) for the V6 model; comparatively speaking. What makes these numbers even better is that they’re accompanied by Acura’s super handling all wheel drive (SH-AWD) precision all wheel steering system (P-AWS); Which makes the handling on the TLX super tight and forgiving, in other words an absolute dream.
True Luxury at a Reasonable Cost
Acura has really stepped up their game in the luxury aspect of their line this time around. One of the things they employed in doing this is using acoustic spray foam, triple door seals, active noise control, and an acoustic glass windshield. All of these features combined equate to a cabin with 50% reduced noise and give the driver/passengers a sense of a true luxury experience. Yet another cool little feature is that on steep hills the parking brake will automatically hold pressure to keep the vehicle in place while in stop and go traffic, so there is no slight roll back before accelerating on steep inclines. Not the most important feature, I know, but this small attention to detail really shows that Acura has not cut any corners in making a true luxury vehicle.
More About That Luxury Please
If you’re already impressed with the 2015 Acura TLX at this point in the article (which one would be hard-pressed not to be) wait until we dive into cooler features. To kick things off Acura loads the 2015 TLX with heated and ventilated front seats and a user friendly Bluetooth interface for hands free calling and streaming music to the TLX’s 10 speaker 455watt sound system. Now before you even get in the Acura TLX it’s already exuding luxury from its stance but also due to the keyless entry system Acura has equipped this sleek and slick vehicle with. Now hop back in the TLX and you’ll notice the 7 inch touch screen display featuring 3-D navigation functions, real time traffic read out, and oodles of smart phone integrated applications. One of the more interesting and truly luxurious features of the 2015 Acura TLX is the GPS linked climate control. Acura themselves describe the GPS linked climate control functioning as “The automatic climate control system benefits from a GPS-linked solar sensor on models equipped with the technology package. The GPS link monitors the sun’s intensity and location relative to the vehicle, enabling the system to keep each side of the cabin at its designated temperature. The system is completely automatic and requires no manual adjustments, regardless of outside conditions. Almost all climate control functions are operable by voice commands.” To put the icing on the cake Acura added LED accent lighting and real alloy and wood grain trim to the interior pulling all the elements together to justly deliver a luxury vehicle inside and out.
Yeah, the New 2015 TLX is pretty awesome
In a class that’s literally crowded with entrants, the all new 2015 Acura TLX is one contender to be reckoned with. Acura states that the TLX should earn 5 stars overall from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). In my blatant opinion, Acura hit the nail on the head with this one without a doubt, although I wish they offered a manual transmission option for the V6 model, but now I’m just nit picking…
